Here’s a quick quiz for you….
1. Where is Plant City, Florida?
2. How many recipes can you make with strawberries?
3. Where can you combine these two pieces of knowledge and have a load of fun at the same time?
And the answer is ….. (drum roll) …. at the The Florida Strawberry Festival.
For anyone planning to be in Florida between March 4th and March 14th 2010, here’s a festival you can’t afford to miss.
Plant City Florida is just to the North-East of Orlando and is the winter strawberry capital of the world!
The annual festival is not about ritzy, glamorous hype – it’s about a good old fashioned country-style festival where you can buy strawberries, eat strawberries, dress like a strawberry or generally strawberry around in 10 days of glorious family fun.
Go on – you know you want to! Try the strawberry shortcake eating contest, watch a blacksmith at work and buy his wares, chill out at the funfair or have a good look at a few prize heifers!
It’s country theme continues with blue grass and mountain music concerts all day every day.
This festival is a great event that aims to preserve and do homage to the historical and cultural heritage of country folks. I think it’s great! The kids will have a ball and mums, dads, grandmas and grandads will love it too.
If you’re in Orlando in early March, definitely plan to drive over to Plant City. It won’t take more than an hour and you’ll have a brilliant day out that everyone will remember for ages.
Their website is not quite finished yet but keep checking back because it is coming along fast!
